Wishlist and compare, even without an account

Shipped on 5 September 2026

Many buyers are not ready to purchase on their first visit. They want to save a few candidates and look at them side by side. RedCart storefronts support both, without asking anyone to register first.

What you get

  • A wishlist for saving products to come back to.
  • A compare view for up to four products side by side.
  • Both work for guests, without an account.
  • Guest lists merge into the buyer's account when they sign in.

How it works

A buyer browsing your store taps to add a product to the wishlist or to compare. As a guest, both lists work without any sign-up step in the way.

The compare view puts up to four products next to each other, so differences are easy to spot. It works well for products that look alike at first glance, such as models in the same category.

If the buyer later signs in or creates an account, the products they saved as a guest are merged into the account. Nothing is lost on the way, and the lists are then available whenever they sign in again.

Why this matters for your store

Asking for an account too early can push a buyer away. Letting guests save and compare keeps them engaged, and the merge on sign-in means the moment they decide to register, their choices come with them.

A saved list also brings people back: a buyer with products in their wishlist has a reason to return to your store.

What we verified

We checked the wishlist and compare migrations, the storefront endpoints for both, the four-product limit in compare, and the merge of guest lists on sign-in.
