Product search on every RedCart storefront
Shipped on 24 August 2026
A buyer who already knows what they want should not have to click through categories to find it. Every RedCart storefront has product search, and it has been part of the storefront since its first build.
What you get
Buyers can type a query into the search on your storefront and land on a results page that lists matching products from your catalog. You do not need to install anything or connect an outside search service. Search comes with the storefront.
- Search is available on the storefront from the start.
- Results come from your own catalog, the same products you manage in the cabinet.
- The results page is a normal storefront page, styled by your theme like the rest of the store.
How it works
When a buyer searches, the storefront asks your shop's own API for matching products. That API is the same one that serves your product and category pages, so there is no separate index to keep in sync and no third-party service that sees your buyers' queries.
The storefront then renders the results on the server and sends the buyer a complete page. Search results are therefore ordinary pages: they load like any other page of your store and follow the same templates as your catalog.
Why this matters for your store
Search is one of the shortest paths from a visit to a product page. Because it reads from the same data as your catalog, there is no separate search index for you to build or maintain.
What we verified
We checked that the search endpoint is part of the shop API, that the storefront renders the results page from that API, and that the default theme includes a search results template.
RedCart is opening to its first merchants now. If you would like to run your catalog on it and tell us what your buyers need from search, you can join early access.
