Link separate products into one family
Shipped on 5 September 2026
Sometimes each colour of a product deserves its own page, with its own photos and description. Product families let you keep those pages separate and still let buyers move between them easily.
What you get
- Link separate products into a family by a characteristic, for example colour.
- On the storefront, switches on each product page link to the other products in the family.
- You choose which product of the family appears in the catalog.
- Every product card keeps its own URL.
How it works
In the cabinet you group products that belong together and pick the characteristic that tells them apart. On the storefront, a buyer on the red version sees switches for the other colours. Each switch is a link to that product's own page, with its own photos, text and SKUs.
A family usually should not show up in the catalog several times. Later the same day, at 13:49, we added a parent and a catalog default: you mark which product represents the family in the catalog, and buyers reach the others through the switches.
Because each card keeps its own URL, every product page can be shared, bookmarked and found on its own.
Why this matters for your store
SKU combinations work well when versions differ only in size or colour code. When versions need their own photos and descriptions, separate cards fit better. Families give you that flexibility without making buyers hunt for the other versions, and without cluttering your catalog with near-duplicates.
What we verified
We checked the product family tables, including the parent and default migration, the family API, and the storefront change that renders family switches as links.
If your range comes in versions that each need their own page, claim an early access spot and build your first family with us.
