Multiple warehouses, stock per SKU and transfers
Shipped on 5 September 2026
Stock rarely sits in one place. You may have a main storeroom, a shop floor and a second city. RedCart lets you keep stock in several warehouses and see exactly where every unit is.
What you get
- Any number of warehouses.
- One default warehouse, kept by the database: the last default cannot be deleted.
- Stock counted per warehouse and per SKU.
- Manual transfers between warehouses in the cabinet.
- A movement log for every change: restock, sale, adjustment, transfer in and transfer out.
How it works
You add warehouses in the cabinet and mark one as the default. The database makes sure a default always exists, so the store never ends up without a home for its stock.
Each SKU has its own quantity in each warehouse. To move goods, you create a transfer in the cabinet: choose the SKU, the source, the destination and the quantity. The transfer is logged as a transfer out of one warehouse and a transfer in to the other.
Every other change is logged the same way. A restock, a manual adjustment or a sale each leaves a movement with its type, so you can trace how a number came to be. Storefront orders are sold from the default warehouse.
Why this matters for your store
A single stock number hides a lot. Per-warehouse stock shows where goods really are, and the movement log answers the question every merchant asks sooner or later: why does this count look wrong? Instead of guessing, you read the history.
What we verified
We checked the warehouse and stock migrations, the database rule that protects the last default warehouse, the transfer endpoint, and the warehouses screen in the cabinet.
